Vinita Sood

I am a Physiotherapist with 30 years experience in the assessment and treatment of back, neck and joint problems including arthritis and injuries as well as the management of pre and post-operative orthopaedic patients.

I became a Physiotherapist as I felt that a career spent in helping people by easing their pain and increasing movement would be both rewarding and challenging. I have certainly derived great satisfaction from seeing patients benefit from my treatment and regain improved mobility, function and quality of life.

I have worked as an Extended Scope Practitioner (Senior Physiotherapist) at the St. Andrews Centre in Billericay until July 2015 with an independent clinic for hip, knee, ankle and foot problems. In this role, I assessed patients clinically, investigated them with X-Rays, MRI scans and blood tests and also performed cortisone injections in joints and soft tissues. I liaised closely with Consultant Surgeons and Rheumatologists and made appropriate referrals for surgery when required.

I have worked at two internationally renowned Hand Surgery centres and I am a member of the British Association of Hand Therapists. I am able to provide splints and treat patients who have hand injuries, hand and wrist arthritis or have had hand surgery. I was awarded an MSc from the University of East Anglia in Manipulative and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. I offer acupuncture to complement my physiotherapy treatment. I have continued to enhance my skills by attending post-graduate courses in Hand Therapy, Electro-therapy, Exercise therapy and Manual therapy.

Teaching and training has always been a part of my role as a Senior Physiotherapist and I have trained both undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have mentored and supervised trainees for the MACP. It has been a source of great satisfaction to see them acquire the qualifications and the confidence to practice to a high standard. I have been an invited Lecturer at the University of East London and have been an Examiner for the B.Sc (Physiotherapy) Degree Examination.
