Neurodynamics

Mobilisation of the body can often interfere with the nervous system and become the cause of pain. Neurodynamics is the assessment and treatment of the dynamic nervous system using specific physiotherapy techniques.

First4Therapy offer Neurodynamic Assesment and Treatment for our Clients. Nerve tissue is often the cause of pain when it cannot move freely. Neurodynamic therapy uses manual techniques to mobilise nerves and the surrounding tissue to improve mobility and reduce pain.

What is Neurodynamic Therapy?

Neurodynamics is the dynamic movement of the nerves in our body. Neurodynamic therapy involves studying the interplay of nerves and the surrounding soft tissue. This assessment is then used as the basis for mobilising tissue to reduce pain. The treatment is specifically tailored to every individual neurodynamic assessment.

Depending on the patient requirements, assessments cover:

  • Upper Limb tension tests e.g: median, radial and ulnar nerves
  • Lower limb tension tests e.g:  femoral, sciatic, saphenous, calcaneal nerves
